We humans forever yearn for comfort and convenience. The authorities here grasped this and decided to combine the two in their remarkable ‘Dubai’ way to benefit the residents. Indeed, focusing on creating convenience for residents prudently saved costs on paper, literally. This is in line with their aims of going 100% paperless by 2021.
Welcome ‘The Smart Dubai initiative!’, created under the visionary leadership and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. With a goal to make Dubai the happiest city on earth by making government transactions paperless, hassle-free, and thereby reducing wastage. The authorities have been at the forefront of digitizing government services to benefit residents, visitors, business owners, parents, and families.
Residents who have used these Smart services vouch for it and these apps have garnered favorable reviews across mobile platforms. We have taken the liberty to categorize these SMART services into ‘Comfort & Services’ and ‘Safety & Living’. We hope to see other public services throughout the MENA region adopt some of these applications and methods as it saves time, money, and inconvenience for both residents, nationals, and the public service entity.
To make your life in Dubai easy you must first download these two apps from the IOS App Store or Google PlayStore
With the DubaiNow app you can access Utilities & Bills, as well as services related to Driving, Housing, Residency & Visas, Health, Education and Police. In General section one can access Social Services, Sports Calendar, Covid19 info and more. The Driving app includes every conceivable service including Insurance. Subsequently, when you wish to top up Salik or pay DEWA use DubaiNow for seamlessly efficient transactions from the comfort of your phone.
Comfort & Services
In this category we are sharing a gist on Bills, Residency, Housing, Health, Education and General.
From Traffic fines, topping up Salik, Nol card or paying DEWA bills, Etisalat, Du, filling up petrol at Enoc everything is at your fingertips. The Enoc Fuel app will also guide you to the nearest petrol station.
Residents can apply for visit visas or residence visas and stay updated on the status of their applications.
Notably, there are service centers for various visa services. Eg. Amer is where all residents get their visas and residency transactions done. While Tad-beer provides end-to-end services to recruit and employ domestic workers (house-helps and nannies).
Whether you are a landlord or a tenant, right from deciding which real estate brokers or property projects to choose from you can find it here. MBRHE Services shows the loan status to buy the property. While tenants can surf through Simsari Listings to check property available on lease. DEWA and FEWA shown here are for new connections. While Rent and Ejari allows you to digitally sign property documents, the EJARI app is useful for tenants to finalize their rental contracts. And Home Services lists movers, painters, technicians, and pest control teams for hire.
Perfect for emergencies at unexpected hours. This app will guide you to the nearest hospital with specialist doctors and can even locate the closest 24/7 pharmacy. All these features make it the best app for parents and seniors.
Here one can check the ratings, curriculum, contact details and fees of any school or college. This app also provides relevant course information of various institutes for working professionals too.
Right from knowing the updated Covid-19 information, locating the nearest ATM and keeping abreast of Sports and events in the Dubai calendar is what makes a planned weekend for the residents.
